Credit Contributions
Scholarships
Your
association is proud to announce the availability of two scholarships
for Maine students attending college in Maine.
The
John N. Lagerstrom Memorial Farm Credit Scholarship provides up to
three annual scholarships of at least $1,000 to students enrolled in the
University of Maine system. At least one scholarship is awarded to a student
attending the University of Maine Presque Isle campus. Additional awards,
depending upon availability of funds, are awarded to students attending
any other University of Maine campus.
Originally
known as the Farm Credit of Aroostook Scholarship Fund, the newly named
fund is administered by the Foundation of the University of Maine at Presque
Isle with a Farm Credit representative sitting on the selection committee.
Award
selection is based on the following criteria. Recipients must be:
- Maine
residents
- enrolled
in at least their second semester at a University of Maine campus
- the
child or grandchild of a current or former Farm Credit of Maine stockholder,
including board of directors, OR the child or grandchild of a current
or retired Farm Credit of Maine employee
- a
student with significant promise to meet his/her lifetime goals.
Financial
need is not a requirement. Applications are available in the financial
aid offices at all University of Maine campuses. Deadline for all applications
is March 1, 2007. University of Maine campus representatives will notify
recipients.
The
Farm Credit of Maine 4-H Scholarship is the annual $1,000 scholarship
to the Pine Tree State 4-H Foundation. The Foundation awards the scholarship
to a top 4-H applicant in support of a postsecondary education at any
Maine school.
The
scholarship recipient will be:
- a
current 4-H member and top 4-H'er
- a
student whose objective is to major in a field related to commercial
farming, fishing or forest products or in another field with the intent
to work in business related to these industries.
Students
having a direct affiliation with Farm Credit of Maine are eligible to
apply. Financial need is not a requirement. Application deadline is the
second Friday in March—March 9, 2007.
