Maine Technology Institute Grants

The Maine Technology Institute will award up to $2.8 million in research and development money to companies and non-profit research organizations in Maine this spring. The Institute also plans to make additional awards later this fall.

The grants support the commercialization of new technology-related products and services and the creation of sustainable, high-quality jobs for Maine people. Qualified recipients can earn up to $100,000 per project.

Association President Ray Nowak was pleased to have been asked recently to serve on the sector of the board which decides what agricultural and forestry sector projects will receive Maine Technology Institute grants. Other boards make similar recommendations within other sectors, including the marine sector.

Farm Credit staff also serve on a number of other statewide efforts that provide grants or low-cost funds to natural resource based business in Maine, such as the Potato Market Improvement Fund and the Agricultural Marketing Loan Fund.
